Governance, law & corporate obligations
How PWR 360 is constituted and held accountable.
PWR 360 Foundation is a federally incorporated not-for-profit, registered in British Columbia. Our Child Architecture aligns with the federal and provincial frameworks that govern child protection, reporting, and safe sport.
Law, safeguarding & bylaws
The legal ground we stand on, across Canada and B.C.
PWR 360 builds its Child Architecture to align with the federal and British Columbia frameworks that govern child protection, reporting and safe sport. The summaries below are general information, not legal advice.
Federal: Canada
Criminal Code of Canada
Federal offences against children include sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, sexual exploitation, making or distributing child pornography, and luring a child. The Code also prohibits failing to provide the necessaries of life to a child.
Age of protection
The age of consent to sexual activity in Canada is 16, with close-in-age exceptions for peers. Extra protections apply where there is a relationship of trust, authority or dependency, or where exploitation is present.
Mandatory reporting of online exploitation
Suspected online child sexual exploitation can be reported to Cybertip.ca, operated by the Canadian Centre for Child Protection, and is routed to law enforcement across Canada.
Abuse-free Sport & the UCCMS
The Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS), the Office of the Sport Integrity Commissioner, and the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada set national expectations for safe sport and child athlete protection.
Provincial: British Columbia
Child, Family and Community Service Act
Under section 14 of the CFCSA, anyone in British Columbia who has reason to believe a child has been, or is likely to be, abused or neglected must report it promptly to a Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) director. Reporting is a legal duty, not a choice.
Where to report in B.C.
Report a child in need of protection to MCFD at 1-800-663-9122 or 310-1234 (no area code). In an emergency, call 911. Suspected online exploitation: Cybertip.ca.
Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act
B.C.'s DRIPA aligns child welfare and public services with Indigenous jurisdiction and the inherent rights of Indigenous peoples, consistent with how PWR 360 partners with, and never owns, Indigenous knowledge.
Societies Act (B.C.) & oversight
PWR 360 is registered in B.C. as an extraprovincial non-share corporation under the Societies Act. Independent oversight of child-serving systems is held by the B.C. Representative for Children and Youth.
If a child is in danger
In an emergency, call 911. In B.C., report a child in need of protection to MCFD at 1-800-663-9122 or 310-1234. Anywhere in Canada, report suspected online child exploitation to Cybertip.ca. A duty to report is not satisfied by telling a supervisor alone.
